Kamoshiburo Kokonotsu

A private sauna at "Kokonotsu," the annex of Wakatsu, a whole-building rental ryokan in Omihachiman, Shiga. Housed in a converted earthen storehouse within a nationally designated Important Cultural Landscape, the low-temperature room is enclosed by clay walls and floored with straw, where guests lie down surrounded by the scent of medicinal herbs. It is heated by a wood stove, and the cold bath uses drawn well water. Day use is 10,000 yen for private hire (one person, up to four).
